ROLE: Administrator

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Operations Manager

PURPOSE OF ROLE: St Peter’s is a lively, diverse & growing church family on the edge of an inner-city estate in London and is looking for a part time Administrator & Receptionist. The role is vital in ensuring that the operations of the church are being conducted as effectively as possible & the ministries of the church equipped and supported to help fulfil the church’s vision of loving God, being family and brining hope in Battersea & Beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Database management

·Managing and updating church-wide database, managing church rotas & reporting to give a picture of activity

2.Financial bookkeeping & reporting

·Monthly book keeping on all church finances, including banking collection, managing incoming and outgoing payments and financial management of events

3.Reception duties

·Manning reception where required and handling of incoming enquiries & deliveries to church

·Managing church diary including room bookings

4.Administrative support to Vicar

·Administrative support for Vicar where required, in particular for reference forms

·Oversee Sunday mornings serving duties rota

5.Church of England Administration

·Marriage banns, weddings & funerals administration, and responding to various Church of England information requests

6.General ministry support

·Support ministry leaders where required

·Support Operations Manager with communication materials including the website, weekly uploading of sermon& weekly email where required

START DATE:July 2018

WORKING HOURS:17.5 hours a week, working hours 9.30am – 5.30pm

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT:6 weeks per annum

CONTRACT LENGTH: Permanent

SALARY:£25,000 - £26,000 pro rata (£12,500 - £13,000 actual annual salary) depending on experience

Job Requirements:

IDEAL CANDIDATE: St Peter’s is looking for a part time Administrator & Receptionist. The ideal candidate would have a passion for Jesus, the local church and church ministry & operations. The person would have the capacity and ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently and to a high standard. A practical and logistically minded person who gets on with things with a smile on their face.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

·Proven to have the gift of administration

·High level of attention to detail

·Track record of being organised

·Ability to pick up new tasks and processes quickly

·Experienced typist and excellent user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases and ideally graphic design packages

·Financially capable (training in financial bookkeeping available)

·Ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly

·Able to manage own time and proactively prioritise competing tasks in a timely fashion

·Polite & proficient communicator & team player

·A passion to fulfill St Peter’s vision in Battersea & Beyond

Highly Desired:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·To be a committed member of the St Peter’s congregation

·Able to work flexibly where necessary (e.g. for evening meetings). Appropriate ‘time off in lieu’ will always be provided

·A CRB check will be required
