Creation Church is a new church, planting out of Westside Church, in Bend, OR in the Fall of 2019. We are a new church focused on creating compassionate people, healthy families, and thriving communities. We have already established a church plant CORE Team of more than 100 people and plan to launch with great momentum and forward growth.

The Creation Church Youth Director oversees and facilitates all aspects of the 6th-12th grade ministries.

Personal Spiritual Development

Collaboration and Oversight

  • Work with leadership/pastoral teams to develop vision, strategies, and programs supporting Creation Church’s Mission, Vision and Core Values
  • Acts as the primary driver of vision, mission, values, and programming for the Creation Youth ministry team, ensuring that all volunteers have a clear understanding and commitment to these things
  • Create an environment of partnership and trust with parents in the discipleship and care of youth
  • Be available to meet with parents concerning issues regarding their youth’s experience
  • Partner in cohesive strategy and communication between Creation Youth & Creation Kids
  • Lead the Creation Youth team in the development of systems and processes for effective operations, safety, and risk management
  • Oversee the development and management of budget and finances
  • Oversee selection, development, and implementation of curriculum
  • Oversee all special events (Holidays, VBS, etc.)


  • Student Life: Attend & participate in school events, campus visits, grad parties, birthdays, etc.
  • Weekend services: Organize and execute weekend services & curriculum for 6-12th grade
  • Small Groups: Pastor and develop leaders for middle and high school small groups
  • Small Events: Organize & market 5-10 events & gatherings for youth throughout the year (dinners, ice cream parties, river floats, ice skating, lake days, etc.)
  • Parents: Communicate & involve parents in your programming
  • Marketing: Maintain Student Ministries Websites & department-wide marketing
  • ▫ Events: Plan and execute high-level events (Camps, Mission Trips, etc.)

Care & Management of Volunteers/Student Leaders

  • Work with the Creation Kids Director and Lead Pastor to facilitate Creation Youth Team meetings with the leadership team
  • Build, mentor, coach and train team and volunteers/student leaders to meet personal goals
  • Provide pastoral care and encouragement for team and volunteers/student leaders
  • Create a plan for ongoing collaboration and inclusion for the team at large
  • Work alongside pastoral staff to support and ensure proper alignment
  • Identify prospective new leaders
  • Pray for, recruit, train, disciple and coach volunteers to lead and serve
  • Meet volunteers/student leaders regularly or host team gatherings/trainings (coffee, lunch, etc.) to build relationship, pastor, disciple, and coach
  • Develop and implement proper policies and procedures for application, interview and screening process for all volunteers


  • Oversee the discipleship strategy for 6th-12th grade students
  • Lead/teach services as part of the greater strategy to develop other volunteer leader and teachers
  • Distribute weekly lessons to volunteers/student leaders, providing ongoing coaching as needed
  • Meet with leaders for a pre-service huddle
  • Prepare curriculum/games for the weekend and midweek services
  • Add to and edit each weekly lesson plan
  • Print and change posters and promotion for each new series
  • Set up curriculum slides and videos
  • Print all weekly take-home materials
  • Create age-appropriate activities that will encourage spiritual growth
  • Discover ways to lead our youth into Holy Spirit encounters in our services
  • Passionately pursue the gifts of the Spirit being developed in our youth
  • Find creative ways for live worship experiences to become a normal part of our youth ministry

Team Participation & Administration

  • Participate in all meetings required from Lead Pastor
  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings with other departments
  • Answer all email and phone calls in a timely manner – Business Day Sundown Rule
  • Maintain up-to-date calendar and communicate with staff regularly
  • Adhere to and lead others in following guidelines and policies in the Staff Handbook
Highly Desired:


  • Management experience in a similar sized church or organization (300-500 people in size)
  • Ability to organize large groups in high-stress situations (large events, camps, etc)
  • Models effective, healthy and strong communication skills,
  • Obtains effective, relevant and strong speaking/teaching skills
  • Self-motivated and shows strong initiative; Previous success in team building
  • Obtains strong ability to foster a safe, vulnerable environment where youth can belong
  • Obtains excellent leadership and team building skills with direct reports, volunteers, parents, and youth
  • Implementation and teaching of approved curriculum
  • Fosters a Spirit-filled environment that displays the fruits of the Spirit
  • Facilitates wise, biblical judgment when making decisions
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and integrous
  • Flexible throughout changes and demands, while displaying compassion and empathy
  • Results-oriented with a constant drive to seek wisdom, knowledge, and understanding
  • Extensive understanding of young adult development and the culture of the family unit
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms
  • Either possesses or will begin the process to acquire, their Foursquare Pastoral License within the first year of serving at Creation Church
